With a steadfast focus on quality, the winery has embarked on a journey of vineyard rejuvenation, employing the robust and indigenous Kadarka and Kékfrankos varietals.
While basking in the accolade of “Wine Producer of the Year in Hungary” in 2011, the Vida family was silently strategizing the vineyard’s evolution. This period marked significant decisions and the thoughtful replanting of their vineyards. Today, their 23-hectare estate stands as a testament to three decades of tireless dedication, with every vineyard meticulously tended to showcase the genuine character of Szekszárd.
Vida Winery holds an unwavering belief in the unparalleled expression found within their Kékfrankos, Kadarka, and Bikavér wines—a true embodiment of the unique qualities and intrinsic values of the region. The winery adopts an eco-conscious approach to crop protection, utilizing copper and sulfur-based pesticides along with the application of orange oil, although they are presently uncertified. There are plans underway to transition a designated 4-hectare area across various vineyards to organic cultivation, encompassing Bakta, Baranyavölgy, Hidapestre valley, Lisztes völcs, and Virágyhegy.
Amidst their vineyards, a century-old buckwheat plantation stands as a testament to time. From this historic site blossoms their exceptional old vine Kadarka, aptly named Bonsai. The winemaking terrain, characterized by chalky loess soils and clayey earth, shapes the very essence of Péter Vida Winery’s distinctive portfolio.
