5 Ház Borbirtok comes to life through Olivér Weingartner, the passionate winemaker shaping four hectares of volcanic vineyards on Somló Hill. Every vine and every bottle reflects the unique terroir, where mineral-rich soils lend the wines their distinctive character, and his philosophy of letting the grapes speak for themselves defines each wine.

Olivér’s journey with 5 Ház Borbirtok began in 2020, embracing a philosophy of purity: organic vineyard management, and careful, low-intervention handling in the cellar. From steel tanks to wooden barrels and porous plastic tanks, every fermentation choice is made to highlight the intrinsic character of Somló’s indigenous varieties.

He works predominantly with Juhfark, Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Olaszrizling, and his experimental orange wines—like Riesling x Juhfark—demonstrate both his respect for tradition and his curiosity to push boundaries. Production is intentionally tiny: early releases in 2022 were limited to 800–1,000 bottles, emphasizing individuality, quality, and attention to detail.

Olivér’s expertise was shaped abroad, with hands-on experience in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, before returning home to Somló. Living near Lake Balaton in Badacsony with his family, he works closely with the land, crafting wines that are alive, vibrant, and unmistakably tied to their volcanic origin.

These are wines that capture Somló in a glass—pure, energetic, and deeply personal
